Magik

to complete the trinity of mighty maidens of Marvel, that included X23 and Hela, I drew Magik from X-Men. as with the other two, this was my first time drawing this character, which meant a lot of research and practice sketches to understand the costume of the character. of course, given that this was a sexified version of her costume, it would seem I didn’t employ that research, however, the clothing she is wearing is meant to reflect the original designs (belts, tall boots, spikes, gloves, etc). while her costume is inspired primarily by the modern one, I also took a couple things from the classic look, including the sword design and the metal arm. I thought they looked really cool and made the piece more fun to draw. the designs on the headboard of her bed is made to resemble St. Basil’s Cathedral in Moscow. the symbols around her are representative of her world, meaning Power, Storm, Beast, Harmony, and other X-Menesque stuff, as well as some fun quotes the client requested. she and the bed were done in the usual pen, pencil, and Sharpie, while the magic around her is done in Sharpie, pen and color pencil.
